First Day of Pre-School

Granted, it's only mothers day out on Tuesday's and Thursday's but since we will homeschool that's really the only school she'll have. So we are gonna count it! She is nearly 15 months (on the 11th) and quite the handful.

Cricut Card Tricks: A Quilted Christmas----OPEN HOUSE SPECIAL!!

Here is the card I made with the Cricut Quilted Christmas cartridge. It's a sample for the classes that start in October so I can't tell you how I made it. But it was super fun!

NEW PRODUCT!! Stamping Gear from Inkadinkado

Okay, so I try to stay hip to the trends...despite the fact I still use the word "hip" I'm pretty good at it! This is one of the trends that's hitting stores now! Stamping Gear from Inkadinkado. 

It's a nifty stamping tool that allows you to make neato designs like those little things where you put your pen in and it makes swirly stuff! It's like that only easier! 

 I chose a white cardstock for this example and "Broken China" Distress Ink from Ranger. (It's my favorite color) Chose your cling stamp and set it on the Stamp Paddle Block, Ink, and set in notch. Ink, set it next notch, ink, set in next notch. Easy peasy!

You come out with this beauty!!!

Taa-daa!!

These stamps are super versatile and you can do lots of unique ideas with them. There is a special Stamping Gear demo at Michaels at the Rim in San Antonio on September 22nd from 1-2pm hosted by yours truly. Come on out to see how it works for yourself!!

I love that when she's playing, my daughter chooses books over all her fancy toys! I started reading to her when she was born even though people laughed at me and told me I was being silly. Well now she is only 14 months old and prefers reading. I am so proud.

What things do you do to encourage your kids to read?

Sesame Street

Madeleine has discovered Sesame Street. I have mixed emotions about it. I don't want her to turn into a couch potato...or a bean bag potato...but in the mornings she loves her "Melmo" and I cant deny she just looks so darn cute dancing to all the songs. 

Now, even though its Sesame Street, I still feel that I need to filter it. The newer ones are very worldly and are lacking in the education department. I prefer her to watch the older episodes. 

It may be silly since she's only 15 months but she's a sponge and can repeat just about anything you tell her. I want her to repeat good things...not baby talk. 

Oh, and even before she was born I've outlawed Spongebob in our house. 

Are there any "kid" shows that are not allowed in your home?

First Camping Trip- Picture Post!

the next morning--WE SURVIVED THE NIGHT!

It was so much fun...albeit very tiring since Madeleine was the only one that slept...but Joe got some fishing in, I read the whole Hunger Games book and a quilting magazine (by lantern light- we're so colonial!)

Vintage Modern Bonnie & Camille Moda--I QUILTED!

TAA-DAA!! I made a quilt!! I used the fabulous Vintage Modern by Bonnie & Camille from Moda! I actually went to a quilt shop and got real fancy fabric....glad I didn't mess up! >.<

I didn't take step by step pictures because I honestly wasn't sure it was going to come out. (By the way, it's missing a row that I found when I was finished. Somehow it escaped. And if you don't buy premade bias tape for your binding get a bias tape maker...seriously.)

But, despite all the pin marks I had on my arms (I felt like a bee keeper) It was fun and I can't wait to do another one!

It was so much fun- a LOT of work- but totally worth it in the end. It's just a little one for my little one but she likes it.

I did it! Redhead!!

I have been talking about going red for ages. I did it. I love it! It's not quite what I was expecting but I dig it. My hubby likes it so that's really all that matters. :-) Either that or he's an excellent liar tee hee!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made- Spa Night

For our Women's Fellowship Night (which I think is actually called Ladies' Night Out) My dear friend Becca and I are coordinating a DIY spa night! We get to make our own scrubs and then use them (that's the best bit!). For each gathering we have, there is always a door prize. I volunteered to do the ones for this event. I decided to use my handy-dandy Silhouette Cameo and make the book box from the very talented Lori Whitlock. I used simple large font (Impact) to utilize the theme of the evening: That you are fearfully and wonderfully made!!

Here's the inside...it's empty right now but I made little file folders and put the recipes on them so they could refer back to them at a later date...like when they ran out of goodies!

It was lots of fun to make!

So this happened today...

So this happened today...

We live kind of on the corner of our street. There's only one house before ours. My oldest bonus daughter has her dog at our house and we were being lazy and parking outside the fence so we wouldn't have to get out and open the gate to drive the car in...well, serves us right I guess.

A drunk driver left the bar on the corner of the next street and crashed into the back of my parked car. Praise God we weren't in it or anything but then they fled the scene. I have no idea who did it. The only things we have to go on are bits and pieces of their car that was left behind. 

The only thing I can think is that maybe this was rock bottom for them and maybe they'll stop drinking and driving before they hit someONE next time. 

And it's taught us to move our vehicles in anytime we see cars at the bar. 

Oh well...
